MEET JANEL FUJINAKA
LOCAL. PROVEN. READY TO DELIVER.
Aloha!
I’m Janel Fujinaka, a proud Oʻahu-born-and-raised resident, Makiki community member, and candidate for State House District 26: Makiki, Punchbowl, Papakōlea, and Tantalus. I’m running because our working families deserve bold, effective leadership that understands our challenges and delivers real results.
I know what it means to work hard, stretch every paycheck, and face the rising cost of living here at home. Like many local families, I have experienced the pressures Hawaiʻi residents face every day, and I am running to fight for practical solutions that put our community first.

Affordable housing and houslessness solutions with dignity, care, and respect
-
Safer neighborhoods and stronger public safety
-
Quality schools and support for local families

Leadership Rooted in Service
For more than 23 years, I have worked alongside our community, helping families, supporting local organizations, and stepping up during times of crisis.
I have seen firsthand that progress happens when leaders listen, act, and put people before politics.
This campaign is about building a stronger future for District 26 together.
I’m ready to bring experience, compassion, and action-driven leadership to the State Capitol and deliver for Makiki, Punchbowl, Papakōlea, and Tantalus.
Mahalo~

My Platform - Issues:
Education & infrastructure
Our keiki deserve meaningful education and the support to become Hawaiʻi’s future leaders. Our teachers deserve competitive pay and real support. Our roads and public facilities deserve urgent attention. Strong schools and smart infrastructure mean safer communities, greater opportunity, and a stronger District 26.
Kūpuna Care
I strongly support our kūpuna by strengthening access to affordable healthcare, expanding in-home and community-based services, and investing in programs that help seniors live with dignity, independence, and security.
Public Safety
I will address public safety and homelessness with compassion, expanding mental health and addiction services, investing in housing and job programs, and building safe, supportive communities where people can regain stability and dignity.
Affordable Housing
I will fight to streamline permitting for workforce housing, expand public-private development partnerships, and prioritize local residentʻs access to attainable housing before outside speculative investment.
Government Transparency
I strongly believe in government transparency by strengthening ethics laws, expanding public access to information, and making sure decisions are made openly and honestly. Our residents deserve a government they can trust—one that listens, communicates clearly, and stays accountable to the people it serves.
Term Limits
Term limits are important because they promote fresh ideas, prevent entrenched power, and ensure our leaders remain accountable to the people.
Climate Resilience
I am committed to climate resilience by building a more sustainable Hawaiʻi, strengthening local agriculture, investing in resilient infrastructure, and expanding programs that help our state produce more of its own food and products while protecting our environment for future generations.
Stay Connected. Be Heard. Shape Our Community.
